Radiant highlighters are one of my favourite face makeup products. They’re such an important makeup product because they make such a difference to the whole makeup look so I decided to write a post about them.
There are many types, shades and textures of highlighters but that all depends on what effect do you want from it. You have to pay attention on shades, because you have to pick highlighter shade that suits your skin tone. I can say you’ll never go wrong with gold based highlighters because they suit almost every skin tone, much bigger problem is with pink highlighters because they don’t look good on some skin tones such as yellow.
Compact highlighters are my favourite ones for every day makeup look because they highlight my face in the most natural way and for that is important to pick one that doesn’t have much shimmer in it. If you want natural highlight I recommend you to pick compact highlighter and apply it with fluffy brush so highlight won’t be so intense.
You want to apply highlight where the light heats your face so that’s above your brow bone, on top of the cheek bones, on bridge of your nose and the cupid’s bow area. For natural glow you have another option with stick highlighter but again you have to be careful and pick one with natural radiance, so one with not so much glitter.
Stick highlighters are cream based just as these ones. I always apply it with my fingers so it sets on my skin perfectly. Over powering highlighters can sometimes look kinky especialy on the cheek bones, but as you can see on this picture this creamy stick highlighters don’t have much glitter in it so they’re also perfect for daily makeup looks.
Because of their cream base, stick highlighters are also perfect for strobing technique. Strobing or intense highlighting is a intense layering of highlighters for powerful face highlight. You have to apply highlighters on top of each other and you always start with a creamy one because next highlighters will stick on it. It’s the best technique when you want powering highlight effect.
Over powering highlighters are the best for evening or party makeup looks but I recommend you to apply it over the blush, bringing it up to the cheek bones and it’s effect is stunning. Next highlighter is a pure cream highlighter with a powerful illuminating effect so it’s perfect for a night out makeup look.
